East Lothian
The majority of of houses in East Lothian are owner-occupied (more than 60%) whilst houses let at ‘social’ rents, either by the Council or Housing associations’ make up about 25% of the housing stock. The remainder are private lets. Housing of all types tends to be more expensive than in neighbouring areas, other than Edinburgh. There are long waiting lists for most social housing.
